There and back again

This morning Casey and I felt spontaneous. So we decided to take a day trip. First we went to the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation web site to look at locations within a 100 miles or so. We decided on the Wichita Mountains. Casey had heard of a restaurant called Meers in the area and wanted us to check that out too. So, we headed west on I-44 and arrived at Meers around 1:30. Outside the rather rundown building was a makeshift gift shop selling Indian wares. Casey tried his hand at playing one of the hand-carved flutes.
After checking out the gift shop, we walked around the corner and got in line to eat a Meers. The line was actually pretty long - a lot of bikers and tourists and other miscellaneous types were waiting to eat the joint's "world-famous" barbecue and hamburgers. While waiting we saw some interesting signs on the wall, including a framed map that had a squished bug on the inside of the glass.
The food was good - especially the brisket, potato salad and banana pudding.
After lunch, we headed to the Wichita Mountains. I hadn't been there before and it was fun to check out the area.
Finally, before coming home we stopped by Medicine Park. I didn't get any pictures here but if anyone has seen the movie Wild Hogs, it kind of reminded me of a rundown version of the little town the main characters end up in. There were about 5-6 antique/craft shops, a restaurant or two, a bar and a cute little post office. Behind all the shops, there's a river that offers trout fishing.
