The Rewards of Parenting- Lots of "Ove"

Casey's was out of town for three days for a business trip this week. When he's gone, the days always seem to drag a bit. Probably because there's no one to hang with after little man goes to bed. Right before Casey left he injured his back again, so since he's been home he's needed my help and has been in a lot of pain. We went to the doctor today and got some meds that we're hoping will help alleviate some pain.

Colton's able to say short sentences now and can usually let us know what he wants. Recently, I've really been trying to work on teaching him to say please when he wants something. He's still hit or miss on it but hopefully will be the poster child for Miss Manners soon. ;)-

Today we had a really sweet vocalization from our boy that makes up for a few missed "please" or "thank you's." After Casey told Colton he loved him, Colton said it back, then he said it to me too. That was the first time he's said "I Love You." (sounds like "Ove You" - L's are hard for little kids. Probably why Colton calls his friend "Lincoln" "Binkin" instead.)

Colton will be 2 in less than 2 weeks. I know everyone says it all the time, but time really does go by fast with kids! I think this age is really fun. It's got it's trying moments but I think the precious moments outweigh everything else. Toddlers are so excited by the world around them, and it's just so fun to watch them experience new things. Also, Colton's been more affection lately - giving hugs whenever the mood strikes him.

Colton's not the only one getting older. . . I'm going to be 30 in about a month. That one sneaks up on you too. I'm thinking I should do something fun since it's kind of a biggie. I won't be as cool as my homegirl Tara Rehrig though and run the number of miles equal to my age. Pretty sure I would die if I did that, or at the very least want to! Ha.
