On Saturday, Casey and I went to see a matinee of August Rush at Tinseltown. Ever since I saw the first preview, I've been looking forward to seeing this movie. The premise is that a young couple conceives a child and is torn apart before they ever get to know the child. But their love for each other and music eventually reunites them. The movie opens when the child is about 11 years old and living in a boy's home. He's a bit eccentric and is bullied by the other boys because he believes his parents still love him and will find him one day.
His parents are both musicians, and their son inherited his musical gifts from them. Eventually, the boy goes on a quest to find his parents. At the same time, his mother learns that her son didn't die at birth as she'd previously believed and that he's out there somewhere. She begins a desperate journey to find the son she lost. The father didn't even know about the baby because he was separated from the woman early in the relationship, but he's never forgotten her and is now looking for her as well.
The movie has a lot of really touching moments. It's a love story, but it's mostly about the love of a parent and a child. It has a sweet ending that made about half the audience tear up. At the end, the audience even clapped.
It's rated PG and received a "Better than Average" rating from Christian Spotlight on Entertainment. If you get a chance, check it out!

Megan and I went last Friday to see it. I thought the music was amazing and it alone made the movie "theatre worthy." I thought it was a good movie - Robin Williams did a good job of creeping me out!
