What's All That Beef For?

As I was running errands with Colton this afternoon, for some reason, I started wondering about body builders. Not just regular gym folks. I mean those possessing the sort of muscles that call for an extreme double take.

Like this fellow here on the left.

And it got me wondering what do these body builders do with biceps that are as big as a studio apartment, quads as thick as tree trunks and abs with infinite ripples? Do they help friends move and carry everything themselves? Do they look for toppled school buses to turn them over, rescue kids and become heros?

Or do they just spend a lot of time in the gym. Lifting REALLY heavy weights.

Do we, as believers, ever build up huge "muscles" but not fully use them? I imagine most of us don't feel like spiritual Hulks. More like the puny, pale kid at the gym. Using all the weight machines wrong, worn out and embarrassed after our first couple attempts. But even as meager and slight as we feel, in Christ, we do have strength.

His power in us. Like the song says: "
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak but He is strong."

"...We ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves."
2 Corinthians 4:7
