Home again, home again

Last week, we made a whirlwind tour of Oklahoma for our first trip to meet with our GFA supporters. We'd planned to drive out Tuesday night, had the car all packed up and everyone in their seat but then turned back around while still in our town and decided to just start out fresh Wednesday morning. Colton was tired, we were hungry and our own beds were calling us for one more night. I guess that's one of the nice things about living a little closer to your home state.

On Wednesday morning we hit the road and made it to Oklahoma in time for our first lunch meeting. That night we stayed out in Blanchard (a small town southwest of the metro) and got to meet with some people in Norman. The rest of the week, we stayed in OKC with Casey's parents. Each day, we met with several supporters and shared about what's been going on with Gospel for Asia since we've joined staff.

Casey even got to speak to college missions class at his alma mater Southern Nazarene University. They must have liked him because they asked him to come back and speak every semester!

On Sunday, the timing worked out well for us to get to speak with the missions team at one of our supporting churches. Then we enjoyed an Oklahoma favorite: Hideaway Pizza! Yum.

On our last day, we met up with a friend from Tulsa, received a replacement phone for Casey's on-the-fritz phone (thanks Pastor Tommy), visited a woman who's held three generations of Short babies in her arms and hit the road for Texas.

It was really fun to get to reconnect with friends we hadn't seen recently and share about the ministry. After it was all over though, the whole family was really tired! I guess traveling is always a little bit tiring, but doing so many meetings in a short period of time can take it out of you! Even Colton was whooped! He dropped his morning nap several months ago but the last few days he's been wanting it again.

Unfortunately, we hardly took out our camera the whole time we were there. We did get a few picture of Colton and Grannie Fannie (the family friend who's held the Short babies). So, maybe I'll get those posted soon.
