Summer in Wonderland

This morning one of my co-workers commented on how gloomy the weather is, but I had to say that I really love this time of year. I love the cloudy skies and the cool air. During autumn and winter, I feel my creative juices flowing. I want to listen to classical music, write, paint, cook and plant.

Last night as I worked outside, I was inspired by the beauty around me. It was dusk as I watered my backyard. Something about the inky sky made all the colors more vibrant - fuchsia crepe myrtles, deep green grass.

As I worked, I saw a bunny rabbit the size of a fist frozen by my back door. I moved closer and he hopped away. Then, when I came to water my nandina and photinia bushes, I noticed a box turtle under one of the shrubs. His head was tucked tightly in his shell. I called to Casey to come out and see. When he did, we spotted another rabbit (or maybe the same one). The little bunny hop hop hopped beneath our deck. So Casey peered under to get another look at him and instead found a toad. Three animals in less than five minutes!

After I'd finished watering, I walked around front to put my gloves up and was startled by something shaking in the shrubs. It was another little toad!

I'm really happy that all these little creatures have found their way into my yard. It's like my own little wonderland.

me, i hate the fall. actually i have a little secret for you... well, you may not believe me, but here goes anyway.

there is actually a large global organization made up of those of us who hate the fall (mostly Americans, Euopeans, and Chinese). we have existed since Jesus' time and only after the Industrial revolution did we realize how we could end the fall forever....

GLOBAL WARMINGS!!

we have been working undercover for the last two centuries to destroy the ozone layer and create a hot, fiery environment on earth that will hopefully last forever.

we plan to live underwater, eat only flour and spacefood, and breath through straws.
