Happy GroundHearts Day!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s that time of year again! Since I know I have some blog readers from Uranus, Atlantis and the outlying Bermuda islands who may not be as familiar with GroundHearts Day as others, I’d like to share with you a little about this very special holiday.

Each year on February 14, all the weathermen in our communities watch the sky for flying half-naked babies armed with dangerous weapons. If one of these infants is spotted coming out of the clouds without his diaper, we know we have three more weeks left of winter. However, if the bambino remembered his modesty and slapped on a pair of Huggies, we know that spring is just around the corner.

This is one of the biggest holidays of the year for us! So much so, that at 7 o'clock on every GroundHearts Day, we all grind up a chicken heart (hence the holiday’s name) and mix it with two teaspoons of Hershey’s syrup. Then we invite all our friends and neighbors over to have a toast to naked babies. (Don’t forget to shout “Rubber Baby Bottom” as you tap glasses.)
It’s really a very festive time.

However, some have lost sight of the spirit of GroundHearts Day and instead choose to go out to eat or exchange plain chocolates (no chicken heart!) with their mate. But those of us who remember what GroundHearts Day is really all about, will be lining up at our local grocer’s to get the freshest chicken hearts money can buy.

So, Happy GroundHearts Day to you and yours! Wishing you a very rubbery baby bottom.
