Have you ever noticed how sometimes things just don't work the way they're supposed to? I'm not talking about the broken-down-old-rusty junk that hasn't worked in 20 years. I'm talking about shiny-new-shouldn't-be-breaking-down-goodies.For example, yesterday Blogger would NOT allow me to post a headline on my blog entry. I could click and click until my little mouse-clickin' finger could click no more, but I could not type anything into the title box. But, low and behold when I go to Blogger today, I can type any old thing I want in the title box: "Giant Lizards Run a Muck in Bricktown" or "Scientists Discover Drain in Ocean - Leakage Eminent."
Had I done something differently than yesterday that made my Blogger account happier with me? If so, I'm oblivious to it.
Or another example is my car stereo. At random times, my CD player goes on strike against CD number 5. It will sit idly as I peck away at the buttons. "No CD number 5 for you lady!" it shouts. Then on other days, it's perfectly happy to accommodate my requests and even allows me to skip songs, turn up the volume or complete any other fancy request I might have.
Because I've frequently encountered these instances where something that usually works doesn't, I've become more persistent in my dealings with "broken" things.
You know that saying "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"? Well, call me crazy but I think doing the same thing over and over sometimes does get me different results. Sometimes, things work the way they're supposed to, but sometimes they don't . . . and then they do again.
I think it's the same way with life. Relationships, conversations, goals - we have an idea from our past experience of how they're supposed to turn out, but then all of sudden it's different. We don't know why the thing quit working or how to fix it now that it's messed up. We click away with our mouses and eventually have to give up until another day.
I don't think we can figure out every reason why something falls apart or freezes up, but given that yesterday's post now has a headline, and the fact that I can still occasionally listen to CD number 5, I think there's good reason to be hopeful that broken things - in life or technology - can be repaired.

Well, Tara doesn't post as often so I am trying to encourage her to post more by commenting.
Don't worry, I will rectify this now that I know commenting is important to you. :P
This is weird, but the fire alarm at the apartment across from mine has been going off for about fifteen minutes and now there are firemen running up and down the stairs and a bunch of residents are standing down in the parking lot... hmm...
Hey, and now that you mention it, Tara never comments on my blog! We've got a weird triangle going on here..
By the way the fire department just turned the alarm off and left and everyone went back inside.
By the way there really was a fire though!
Maybe I will just starting posting things like this I normally would have put on my blog into the comment space on your blog. Then we will all be happy! Haha.
