7 Things I Like About Oklahoma

Since I've just journeyed from the Lone Star State, I thought I'd take a moment to list off the top things I like about Oklahoma. I think part of the reason people think other states are better than Oklahoma is because Oklahomans are too quick to make fun of their state and not see the good things about it.

1. The Weather: I know our weather could probably be on a bunch of people's top ten list of what they don't like about the state, but I think it's cool that our weather is so unpredictable. One minute it's hailing, then it's 102 degrees, then a cold front swoops in and it's 65 and breezy. I also really like that we have four real seasons instead of just hot or cold all the time.

2. The People: I love how strangers say "hello" to each other and people are quick to embrace each other. This is really obvious when you're walking somewhere like Lake Hefner and you say hello to about 15 people in five minutes.

3. The Fields: On my way to work in the morning, I pass several fields with cows, horses or wheat. I really like being so close to the city but still being able to experience nature.

4. Sweet Tea: Surprisingly, Texas had a shortage of sweet tea. I'd gotten used to being able to get sweet tea at McDonald's but their McDonald's had none.

5. KOMA: For anyone who recalls an older post, KOMA is Subsidizing My Income, you know how much I enjoy listening to 92.5 (the best music of the sixties and seventies).

6. Hideaway Pizza: Paradise Pie, Maui Magic, Chicken Florentine, Big Country . . . mmmm, my mouth's watering just thinking about it!

7. All my sweet friends and family who are Okies!

I agree one hundred percent!!!

There were so many things I missed about Oklahoma... Oklahoma is simply the best state in the union for many different reasons, but namely, because it holds so many people we love.

Hip hip hooray for the Sooner State!
