It's been far too long since I offered my fair readers a quiz with the chance to win points. If you don't remember the point system, refer back to the comments on Riddles for Hobbitses. There you'll find the "prizes" you can redeem your points for.

Because I've started reading the Little House on the Prairie series, I now think it is vitally important that all of us learn how to live like frontiers people. I mean, honestly, any minute now we may be required to pickle some beets or darn some socks. We must learn these essential skills before it's too late! (This from a woman who can barely sew a button on.)

At any rate, today there are three point-awarding questions with the answers found in the first book, Little House in the Big Woods. But if you don't have the books handy, you are also free to Google the information or just make a stab in the dark.

Without any further ado, here are your challenge questions:

1. In the winter the milk from the family's cow produced white butter. Since everyone knows white butter is completely unacceptable, Mrs. Ingalls turned the butter yellow. How did she do this?
