As I posted before, Little Yellow, our guppie, passed away last week. It was suspected that his tank-mate, Charlie (AKA Big Orange) may have been the cause. However, I decided to not be too quick to point fins. After all, it could've just been Little Yellow's time to go.So yesterday, I went to PetSmart to purchase another playmate for Charlie (Big Orange). I intentionally picked out a good-size, aggressive looking fellow. I figured if Charlie did have bullying issues, he'd be less likely to pick on someone his own size. When I got home last night, I placed the new Charlie into the tank. Within a few minutes, I noticed a disturbing amount of aggression from Big Orange. Big Orange incessantly chased the new Charlie around the tank, biting him at every opportunity he got.
The new Charlie never fought back either. He just kept swimming as fast as his little tail would take him. Casey tapped on the glass a couple times to try and get them to break it up. That seemed to work for a while, but then Big Orange would just return to his bullying after a few minutes.
I'm hoping that the new Charlie will develop some courage and start sticking up for himself, or that the old Charlie will chill out and stop trying to kill his playmates. If he doesn't relax in a couple of days, we may have to separate the two: new Charlie in the old tank and old Charlie in a cup with a nice, big Betta (AKA Siamese Fighting Fish).

Sometimes, those we love perish to be spared from evil. Who knows what Charlie could have possibly done to Charlie had Charlie not died in time.
keep us posted on the adventures of the Charlie(s)... Soon you'll be looking for a way to separate your Charlie Children so they don't kill each other! (or you can just send them outside to bleed on the grass instead of your carpet)... wait, I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll wait until you have 2 for that kind of advice!
